Danica Janković

Danica Janković is the Programme Director at the Regional Center for Environmental Law and a legal expert specialized in energy law, environmental law, and corporate sustainability.

She has extensive experience advising clients on legal and policy matters related to the energy transition, renewable energy projects, climate change, ESG/CSR standards, and environmental protection. Through roles in law firms, consultancy, and the non-governmental sector, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of the energy industry, as well as the regulatory and investment frameworks governing the energy sector. She possesses strong practical expertise in EU law, particularly in the fields of energy transition and environmental law.

Danica completed her LL.M. in Energy and Climate Change Law at Queen Mary University of London. She previously obtained a master’s degree in European Union Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, where her thesis focused on the gradual phase-out of fossil fuels at the EU level. She graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade in 2021 and completed part of her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, University of Bordeaux, France.

She has passed the Serbian Bar Exam and is an alumna of the Environmental Law Clinic under the Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Belgrade. She is the recipient of the Best Student Paper Award from the Ministry for European Integration (2022) for her paper titled “The Energy Crisis and the European Union’s Response – Assessing the Adequacy of Measures from a Climate Change Perspective.” She is the author of numerous publications in the fields of energy and environmental law.

Currently based in London, she is pursuing an LLM in Energy and Climate Change Law at Queen Mary University of London. She passed the bar in Serbia and holds a Master’s degree in EU Law from the Faculty of Law, with a master thesis focusing on the fossil fuel phase-out at the level on EU. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade in 2021 and completed part of her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, University of Bordeaux in France. An alumna of the Legal Clinic for Environmental Law and the School of Environmental Law within the Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Belgrade, she continues to engage in environmental legal studies.

Danica is the winner of the best student paper competition, organized by the Ministry of European Integration in 2022, with the topic “Energy crisis and the response to the crisis in the European Union – Examining the adequacy of the solutions undertaken from the perspective of climate change”. She is also the author of a number of publications related to Climate Change, Energy Law.
