“Last year it was the Jadar project, and this year the focus is on Chinese investments, as well as the additional opinion of the European Commission regarding Jadar. The Government of Serbia should further take care that in adopting the spatial plan for special purposes, it actually implements the standards defined by the rules on the strategic assessment of the impact on the environment. Do not issue permits or take any concrete steps before that,” Mirjana Drenovak-Ivanović stated.
The Environmental Crime Suppression Unit of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia was established, but the harmonization of legislation and criminal law in the field of the environment and the implementation of the Environmental Crime Directive have not progressed.
“Everything that is not in accordance with the standards and in accordance with the laws that represent the transfer of the directive of the European Union is not acceptable, first of all, for Serbia,” reminds Mirjana Drenovak Ivanović.
